However, the systemmay not detect all objects depending on their size, shape, and location.• Even with the backup sensors, the driver is still responsible for making sure the path is clearwhen driving in reverse.4© 2004 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. - All Rights Reserved.How the Backup Sensors WorkBackup SensorsThe sensors are ready for operation when the backup sensor switch is turned ON, and the shift lever is movedto the reverse position.The sensors operate by emitting ultrasonic waves.
