However, the systemmay not detect all possible objects depending on their size, shape, or location.• Even with the backup sensors, the driver is still responsible for making sure the path is clearwhen operating the vehicle in reverse.4© 2002 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. - All Rights Reserved.How the Backup Sensors WorkBackup SensorsThe sensors are ready for operation when the shiftlever is moved to the reverse position with thebackup sensor switch turned ON.Operation of the sensors is dependent upon theultrasonic waves they emit.
